Tanners Restaurant

Unlike a lot of the eateries I have been to, Tanners is not in London. It is in Plymouth, a place where, when I tried to find a good restaurant to eat at, I stumbled upon a Top 10 restaurants list with Nando’s on it. I thought it looked nice so decided to try it. I am pleased I made the right decision.

Time of Visit – Dinner, 1st November

Cost of Chips – £5.00

The restaurant is set in one of the oldest buildings in Plymouth, this is always a worry as I think the food suffers because the building’s appeal means substandard food can be served and people will still eat there. Fortunately this was not the case. The interior is tastefully modern and the service was exquisite.

How were the chips?

Tanners

The chips were great. They were meant to be Triple Cooked (the third time being in Beef Dripping) but as I don’t eat meat they were specially cooked in oil again. Served in a small copper saucepan. These chips were crispy on the outside, perfectly seasoned and fluffy on the inside. If I had one complaint it would be a touch too oily (but that is probably because of my vegetarianism).

Chips: 9/10

And how were the toilets?

The toilets were nice. There was a nod to the age of the building with the calligraphic text on the wall. The room was a bit small but it had the towels which you dispose of after use, which I do enjoy. However there was, it seems, only one toilet (for men). I constantly thought I was holding someone else up.

Toilets: 9/10

Overall: 9.25/10

An almost perfect restaurant with great food, great toilets and some of the best service I have experienced
